Tennessee Emergency Medical Services for Children Foundation (TN EMSC) advocates for the highest quality of care for critically ill and injured children in Tennessee. Our membership encompasses a diverse group of individuals including physicians, nurses, paramedics, EMTs, teachers, hospital administrators, parents and advocates for children. Our diversity allows us to consider children’s emotional, familial and cultural needs as well as their medical needs. We are dedicated to ensuring that your child, grandchild, niece, nephew, student, or patient receives exemplary care because we expect this level of care for the children in our lives who mean so much to us. It is for this reason that I have been involved with TN EMSC for many years.
TN EMSC is influencing progress in many important areas. To ensure that children receive the best possible care with the appropriate equipment for their age and size, TN EMSC serves as an advisory board to the Tennessee Department of Health’s Emergency Medical Services Board and Board for Licensing Healthcare Facilities. So that children across the state have access to the level of care that they may require, TN EMSC has developed a statewide transfer agreement that allows a child to be transferred from a small hospital to the comprehensive regional pediatric center (children’s hospital) in their region. In addition, we are working to integrate pediatrics into the statewide disaster plan, and through this website, we offer educational courses to improve response to disasters such as bioterrorism, radiation and chemical incidents. In recent years, TN EMSC provided hospitals across the state with wall charts that display an overview of treatments for different emergencies affecting pediatric patients. Finally, TN EMSC is working with rural EMS programs to help them obtain equipment such as the EZ IO which is necessary to properly treat pediatric patients.
Tennessee Emergency Medical Services for Children Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring that every child in Tennessee receives the best pediatric emergency care in order to eliminate the effects of severe illness and injury. We invite you to join us in achieving this vital mission by becoming a member, offering suggestions, participating in our educational conference, and/or making a charitable contribution so that we may strengthen and continue our effort in promoting a national standard for pediatric emergency and critical care.
